Beauty junkie, makeup obsessed, skincare freak, spends half her paycheck at Sephora…if you called me any of those things, you’d be spot on. My obsession with skincare products came when I started taking makeup lessons in preparation for competing in the Miss Hawaii USA pageant and later, the Miss USA pageant. I was learning all of these advanced tips and tricks to contour your face, get “glowing” skin, open up your eyes using double-stacked lashes, and more. But even though I had all of the tools under my belt, I didn’t have the canvas — healthy looking, acne-free and hydrated skin — so my makeup never looked as perfect as I wanted it to be. I had acne since my late teen years through my mid-twenties, so I never actually thought that ‘perfect skin’ was in the cards for me.
But about a year ago, when I was finally getting my acne under control, I started adding facial oils into the mix. The one I use now is the Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil. It was created to hydrate, tone and balance oily skin types with an exclusive concentrate of Rosewood, Geranium and Lotus extracts. Since I have combo skin, I love the way this balances the oil in my T-zone. It’s also formulated to tighten pores and refine skin texture (yes PLEASE). And since it has hazelnut oil, it softens, soothes and seals in moisture to minimize the appearance of fine lines. I just apply it to my face and neck after I get out of the shower in the evenings and am so excited every morning with how soft and smooth it has made my skin. It also smells divine (just like the smell you’d expect at a spa), however if you don’t like anything scented you’ll want to keep this in mind.
Clarins also has other formulations of its face treatment oils in Santal (for dry skin) and Blue Orchid (for dehydrated skin) that address other skin concerns. Since my main concerns are refining skin texture and tightening pores, I think the Lotus formula (for oily or combination skin) was the best for me, even though I secretly wish I could find a way to use all three! If you haven’t incorporated an oil into your skincare routine, I highly recommend this one!
Thank you to Clarins for sponsoring this post!
