When I sit down to write a blog post these days, it seems like the first thing my mind goes to is the weather. But mother nature really does dictate how you go about your days here in New York City — if it’s rainy out you don’t want to get caught without an umbrella (I kid you not I see people wearing trash bags around all the time) and you really regret it when it’s colder outside than you anticipate. On more than one occasion, I’ve gone gloveless and scarfless hopelessly thinking that I could wish warm weather into existence, only to run straight back up to my apartment for my full down coat. What I’m trying to say is this: when it’s sunny out, you take to the streets and make a day of it.
That’s exactly what I did yesterday when I hung out in the West Village with a friend and we had crepes, bought fresh flowers, and strolled down Perry Street–where these photos are taken–which is exactly where Carrie Bradshaw’s stoop was located in Sex and the City. I had some serious real estate envy just peeking into these lavish townhomes and it’s funny to think that Carrie lived here on just a freelance writer’s income (it is TV after all). Keep your fingers crossed for more sunny days to come!
