Narrowing down your six favorite anything in New York City is a seemingly impossible task. Whether you’re looking to get your nails done or you just need to satisfy your cronut fix, there are probably a hundred different places you could do it. I know from personal experience that using Yelp in New York City is a big black hole of confusing, so I wanted to share some of my favorite spots so that whether you live here or you’re visiting, you can taste some seriously good food. I know that all taste buds are different and I haven’t tried every spot in the city, so when I say that these are my six favorite brunch spots in the city, what I really mean is that these are my favorites amongst the places that I’ve actually tried. P.S. the shot above was taken at Cha Cha Matcha, which isn’t on my list since it’s not a brunch spot, but totally worth stopping by. Happy brunching!
1. Two Hands
Two Hands is an awesome Australian spot with two locations — the restaurant & bar location in TriBeCa serves up a more extensive menu and I highly recommend the burger and the ricotta hotcakes. At the cafe in SoHo, the acai bowl is not to be missed.
This spot just opened up and I went with a couple of friends to try it last week. Surprise surprise, it’s another Australian spot! I don’t know why, but they make the best coffee and even better food. Don’t miss out on the sweet potato smash, it’s to die for. It’s popular right now so be prepared to wait a few minutes or try going at an off hour.
This is an adorable café in Chelsea that’s a must-try. At first it looks like a grab and go coffee shop, but don’t be fooled — they serve amazing food, just in a casual atmosphere. You will find people working on their laptops and staying a while, but they also wait on you if you’d like to order food. Try the pear waffle and you won’t regret it!
4. Café Henrie
Cutest. Spot. Ever. It’s so neon and colorful it reminds me of the diner at saved by the bell. My favorite thing is the Mr. Pink bowl, followed by the avocado toast.
5. Café Medi
This decor has to be seen to be believed. It’s so pretty and the back area has tons of natural light, so be sure to get a spot there. The pancakes were incredible so if you’re a pancake lover like me then be sure to order a stack for the table.
I mean…look at that decor!
