If you follow me on Instagram, you know that Holden and I had the most magical vacation in Kona last month where we stayed at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. I’ve been posting a million pictures from our stay there, and that’s because it is the most picturesque resort you’ll ever visit. In my opinion it’s also one of the most peaceful spots to relax and unwind in Hawaii because while the resort was at capacity when we stayed, it truly felt like we had the place to ourselves. That’s probably in part because the resort sprawls over numerous acres, has seven pools, a spa and fitness center, several boutiques, a kid’s center, rock wall, basketball court, three restaurants and three lounges, I could go on and on. With so much to do on property, we didn’t rent a car at all and didn’t think twice about it — we never ran out of things to do.
Our days pretty much went like this: woke up at the crack of dawn I would get ready in the room while Holden would either enjoy the room’s outdoor shower or go for a morning walk around the property. Then, we’d head to the breakfast buffet at Ulu Ocean Grill to fuel up for the day ahead. Side note: there wasn’t a breakfast item that was not accounted for at this buffet, and that is just the way we like it. One of the days we decided to enjoy one of the resort’s new Couples’ Nests at the Palm Grove Adult Sanctuary and it was a dream to say the least. We had a mini fridge full of snacks and drinks, a cabana all to ourselves, amazing service with lunch for two, and the best part of all — spa treatments right in our cabana! Holden got the island hair treatment with a neck and shoulder massage and I got the pono lomi lomi sticks hand and foot massage, both by our amazing therapist Michelle. It was one of those days I simply didn’t want to end. We finished the night off with dinner at Ulu Ocean Grill and split a steak, yummy sides, and capped it off with a chocolate souffle. To put it simply, we did not hold back!
The next day we walked up to the fitness center for a morning workout and took full advantage of the sauna, steam room and hot tub area before heading to breakfast. After another morning at the buffet, we went to check out King’s Pond, a snorkeling pond on property that is home to more than 4,000 tropical fish and 98 species (including a spotted eagle ray). Holden had the best time snorkeling around and looking at all the different fish, and I looked on from the edge because I have a fear of fish (I don’t know why and 100% understand this is completely irrational). Then we headed over the the beach tree pool and relaxed before watching the sunset. While we just spent a long weekend here, the resort has a way of making you fell fully relaxed the moment you step on property. Holden and I both agreed it’s the most amazing place we’ve ever stayed and are already planning the next time we go back.
