When I first joined Pinterest, I didn’t really get what all the hype was about. Flash forward to a year later, and I don’t know what my life would be like without it. I get fashion inspiration, interior design ideas, healthy recipes, and best of all, beauty hacks (anything to make my life easier I will do!). I thought I’d share a few of my favorites that I use on the regular:
1. 3D Lip Effect
No need to take the Kylie Jenner Challenge, fuller lips can be as easy as using two different shades to contour your lips. Step 1: apply your favorite lip color. Step 2: Apply lipstick in the center of lips a few shades lighter to create a pouty look. That’s it! This hack was used in the first photo of this post. Photo credit: Pinterest
2. Heated Eyelash Curler
While in Japan my makeup artist used a heated eyelash curler on me and I was in shock how long they stayed curled. But instead of buying one, just hold your hair dryer up to your curler for 5-10 seconds, then curl lashes immediately.
3. Moist Makeup Wipes
Store your makeup wipes upside down — it makes the cleanser soak the bottom wipe so the one you take out is always full of product and the opening stays closed and airtight.
4. Extend Your Manicure
Grown-out nails but no time to get them done? There’s a hack for that. Apply glitter nail polish to the bottom…so easy! Use tape to create a clean edge. Photo credit: Pinterest
5. Beating Clumpy Mascara
Clumpy mascara happens to the best of us, but it’s an easy problem to hack by soaking your mascara in hot water for a minute or two before applying which will thin it out.
6. Easy Updo
Spray bobby pins with hairspray before pinning up your undo for a better grip. This will make sure bobby pins don’t slip out, no matter what.
7. Fixing Broken Compacts
If you know what it’s like to shatter a compact (especially one that’s new — argh) then you need to know this hack. Follow these steps: wrap in plastic wrap, mash it up into small pieces (if they’re not already) with the bottom of a makeup brush, remove wrap and add at least 10 drops of rubbing alcohol, smooth it out with a spatula and perfect the edges, then leave it open to dry overnight.
